SWIMMING - last night and upcoming...

Hi Orcas!

A W-I-N for the Orcas last night! Results: OV 472, Shallowford Lakes 419

Thanks for hanging out with us all night! Attached you will find the results. “DQ” indicates the swimmer was disqualified. DQ slips are turned in and reviewed by the coaches and we will address the issues at practice. Breaststroke is always our biggest “culprit”. “NS” indicates the swimmer didn’t swim/missed their event. As you can see, we had many records broken! Not only are we proud of how well the swimmers swam last night, but of the great examples of sportsmanship many of our swimmers demonstrated. Way to go Orcas!

Clarification for backstroke: Head catchers - Adults and coaches only are permitted to serve as “head catchers” for swimmers in the 10 and under age groups. Hand(s) must be flat against the wall to avoid disqualifying the swimmer.

Next week is busy with TWO swim meets (Tue. 6/13 and Thur. 6/15). Also our regular summer Practice Schedule begins on Monday June 12!

Another meet we would like to bring your attention to is the annual Robin Jacobs City Meet. This meet does not count as part of our regular season, but is a great way for swimmers all over the Winston-Salem and surrounding areas to come together and compete as well as have fun!

This year the meet is on Friday, June 23. 6-10 year olds swim in the morning (9am) and 11&ups swim in the afternoon (1:30). Help us represent the Orcas! All ability levels are encouraged to attend. Adults - you can participate as well! Last year Coach Jeni, Jessica Brown and Mike Buchanan participated… anyone want to put a relay together??? We have to have our entries submitted by Fri. June 16. (There is a fee to participate in the meet).  To learn more about the City Meet, please review the attached information.

WAIT, there’s more!

PLEASE, right after you read this email, go to the Signup Calendar and declare your swimmer(s) for the following THREE meets (6/13, 6/15 AND City Meet)! We need to have this information by the end of this week so we can prep the meets. We have to turn in City Meet entries by the end of next week.

Thank you!

See you at the pool!
